Antique 1896 Cape Cod Volume I and II by Henry David Thoreau, published in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I just adore the covers and spines of these books -- they are a faded green/gold designed with leaves that look like hearts.
These books include Thoreau's recorded adventures including chapters on The Shipwreck, Stage-Coach Views, The Plains of Nauset, The Beach, The Wellfleet Oysterman, The Beach Again, Across the Cape, The Highland Light, The Sea and the Desert, and Provincetown. There are lovely color illustrations throughout the books as well.

There is wear and discoloration on the covers, spines, and pages due to age. There is one illustration page in Vol II that is detached (pictured), but otherwise all of the pages appear to be in tact. The books measure about 7.5" x 5". Please note that photos may appear brighter than actual books.
