Rare antique edition of Harriet Beecher Stowe's book Uncle Tom's Cabin or, Life Among the Lowly. This book is a lovely Henry Altemus edition with a blue and gold design and a cabin with a lake and canoes pictured.
Stowe's novel became a turning point for the abolitionist movement; she brought clarity to the harsh reality of slavery in this book that inspired many to join anti-slavery movements.
There is no copyright date, but this was likely published in the late 1800s/early 1900s. There is wear and discoloration on the cover, spine, and pages due to age. The book measures about 6.5" x 4.25" x 1.25". Please note that photos may appear brighter than actual book.
