A romantic gift is one that feels deeply personal and meaningful. Whether it’s an art print that makes someone feel loved, a letter filled with words from the heart, or an antique book that feels like an heirloom, the most romantic gifts always seem to say: I see you, I cherish you, and you're always on my mind.

Below are 6 romantic gift ideas for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, the holidays, or simply just because.

1. Custom vows, song lyrics, or poem print

The traditional anniversary gift for the first year of marriage is “paper” and the second year is “cotton.” So, a really thoughtful gift idea is to print wedding vows, song lyrics, or a romantic poem on handmade cotton rag paper. This thick, luxurious paper has torn deckle edges making it a beautiful addition to any wedding or home decor.

3. Antique or vintage book

When it comes to finding a truly unique gift, few things are as enchanting and timeless as a one-of-a-kind antique book.

When selecting a book for someone, tailor the choice to their interests. Are they a fan of classic literature? Seek out a rare edition by their favorite author. Do they love flowers, travel, or art? Find a beautifully illustrated book on their favorite topic.

Pair of Ralph Waldo Emerson Books: I love the idea of books being the something blue for a wedding. Books with fine bindings make beautiful wedding decor or photo props and will be a significant reminder of the day for years to come.

Spell of France or Spell of Italy book: Maybe you or the couple are traveling to France or Italy for a romantic honeymoon or you know how much your loved one adores Paris or Rome. These books are treasures to gift and display.

Romeo and Juliet Book: What could be more classically romantic than Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet? 

Emily Dickinson Love Poems Book: Any book filled with love poems or love letters would be a great choice. There are many other love-themed options in my shop too.

Don't forget to add a personal touch by tucking a note inside the cover, something that says, “For all the chapters still to come.”

4. Themed gift

My parents got married on August 19^th, 1978. For their 35^th wedding anniversary, I had so much fun putting together gifts from the year they got married. In 1978, there were 4.3 billion people in the world, so I made them a framed quote that said, “Out of 4 billion people, I chose U.”

I made them a CD with the top Billboard hits from their wedding day. Grease was the #1 movie at the time (rest in peace Olivia Newton-John), so I gave them a DVD of that and some Reese’s pieces because they first launched in 1978.

And as big Cowboys fans (my Great Uncle Chuck Howley played for them), Dallas beat Denver in the Super Bowl in 1978, so I bought them tickets to a Cowboys vs. Broncos game.

Another sweet idea is to create themed “date night” boxes. One box could have everything needed to make a delicious meal or cocktail together, another could have a t-shirt, foam finger, and tickets to a game, another could have a blanket, candles, and a romantic book of poems to read to each other. The list goes on and on.

5. Custom painting

If you’re looking for something really special, you could have an engagement or wedding day photo painted by a watercolor artist like my friend and art partner, Patricia Shaw. Her paintings are so lovely and detailed. Frame it in a floating or vintage frame and gift it to a newlywed couple or to your significant other.

6. Handwritten love letter

I think I put this in every blog post that I write, but a handwritten love letter is the least expensive and most romantic gift that you can give. It's such a beautiful and memorable way of capturing loving thoughts and giving someone something they can revisit over and over again. You can even start a new tradition by writing each other a love letter every anniversary and keep them all together in a pretty box or binder.

If you’re not sure what to write, just think about how they make you feel, things they’ve done for you over the years, or just write compliment after compliment.
